Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • For the buttercream:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2-4 tablespoons heavy cream or milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Blend Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, beat the butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Combine: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and blend until just combined.
  5. Fill the Liners: Pour the batter into the lined cupcake pan, filling each liner about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake: Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool: Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.

Notes

Use room temperature butter for better mixing. Don’t overmix the batter to keep cupcakes fluffy.
