A delicious twist on the classic grilled cheese sandwich, filled with hearty sloppy joe goodness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 cup sloppy joe sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough, white, or your choice)
  • 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or any meltable cheese)
  • 2 tbsp butter (for grilling)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Drain excess fat, then stir in the sloppy joe sauce and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, butter one side of each slice of bread.
  4. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  5. Place one slice of bread butter-side down in the skillet, then add a layer of cheese, followed by a generous scoop of the sloppy joe mixture.
  6. Top with another slice of cheese and the second slice of bread, butter-side up. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and the cheese has melted.
  7. Slice in half and serve hot, maybe with some chips or a side salad for added crunch!

Notes

Try adding onions, bell peppers, or any leftover veggies to the sloppy joe mixture for extra fiber and flavor.
