Soft and fluffy pumpkin cinnamon rolls, perfect for autumn mornings and holiday gatherings, topped with creamy frosting.

  • 1/4 cup warm water (105-115°F)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil or cooking spray

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let it stand for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, melted butter, egg, vanilla, and pumpkin puree.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the wet ingredients and stir until combined.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour and salt until a soft dough forms. Knead with a dough hook for about 5-7 minutes or by hand for 8-10 minutes.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours until it doubles in size.
  6. Prepare the filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger in a medium bowl until smooth.
  7. Once the dough has doubled, punch it down and roll it into a large rectangle (12×18 inches).
  8. Spread the filling evenly, leaving a small border along one edge. Roll into a log and slice into 12 equal rolls.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before frosting.
  11. Prepare the frosting by beating cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, then milk and vanilla until fluffy.
  12. Spread the cream cheese frosting generously over the warm rolls and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, ensure liquids are at the right temperature to activate yeast.
