Quick and comforting tuna melt patties filled with melty cheese and flaky tuna, perfect for a cozy dinner or lunch.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (5–6 oz) tuna in water, drained
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or mashed potato for gluten-free)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise or plain yogurt
  • Salt, pepper, and a pinch of smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsp oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine drained tuna, cheese, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, mayo, and seasonings.
  2. Mix until evenly combined and form into 6 patties.
  3. Chill patties for 10 minutes in the fridge to firm up.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook patties for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and heated through.
  5. Serve hot with a squeeze of lemon or a slice of tomato and extra cheese if desired.

Notes

These patties can be baked instead of fried at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes. For gluten-free, use gluten-free breadcrumbs or mashed potato.
