  • 1 cup dried lentils (cooked and mashed)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Begin by cooking the lentils according to package instructions until they are soft.
  2. In a skillet, heat a bit of oil and sauté the chopped onion, grated carrot, chopped bell pepper, and minced garlic until they are tender.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked lentils, sautéed vegetables, cumin, paprika, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper.
  4. Mix everything together well until you have a mixture that can hold its shape.
  5. Form the mixture into patties, about 2-3 inches wide.
  6. Heat more olive oil in the skillet over medium heat and fry the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Serve the patties warm, topped with your favorite sauces or between buns as you wish.

Notes

Ensure lentils are well-cooked but not mushy for the best texture. These patties can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the fridge or frozen for longer storage.
