  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined.
  5. Knead lightly on a floured surface, then roll to about 1-inch thick.
  6. Cut out biscuits with a round cutter and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Don’t overmix the dough to keep the biscuits tender. You can add shredded cheese or herbs for extra flavor.
