Baked Apple Fritters are a delightful treat filled with tender pieces of apples, perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert. A healthier alternative to fried fritters, these are fluffy and flavorful, capturing the essence of autumn.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons plain yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • Optional glaze: 1/2 cup powdered sugar + 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine the milk, yogurt, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Mix until smooth.
  4. Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir just until combined.
  5. Gently fold in the diced apples.
  6. Drop heaping spoonfuls of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  7. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the fritters cool for 5 minutes. If desired, drizzle with a simple glaze made by mixing powdered sugar and milk.
  9. Serve warm or at room temperature. Great with coffee or tea.

Notes

Choose firm apples for the best texture. Avoid overmixing the batter and feel free to customize the recipe by adjusting sugar or adding spices.
