A cozy fall dessert featuring sweet apples topped with a crunchy, buttery crisp. Perfect for chilly evenings and family gatherings.

  • 6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with granulated sugar, vanilla extract (if using), and half the cinnamon. Toss to coat.
  3. Spread the apple mixture evenly in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, remaining cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Sprinkle the crumb mixture over the apples evenly.
  7. Bake for 30–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. To store, cover tightly and refrigerate for up to 4 days.
