This slow cooker turkey breast recipe makes tender, juicy turkey with very little work. A smart choice for weeknights or holiday meals, it’s rich in simple flavors and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 lb turkey breast, bone-in or boneless
  • 12 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth or water
  • Optional: sliced onion, lemon halves, or a bay leaf

Instructions

  1. Pat the turkey breast dry. Rub with olive oil or melted butter. Season with garlic, salt, pepper, and herbs.
  2. Place sliced onion or lemon halves in the bottom of the slow cooker if desired. Put the turkey on top.
  3. Pour 1/2 cup chicken broth or water into the cooker around the turkey.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 4–6 hours, or until the internal temperature reads 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part.
  5. If desired, transfer turkey to a baking sheet and broil for 3–5 minutes after cooking for a browned top.
  6. Let the turkey rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing to keep juices inside.

Notes

Letting the turkey rest before slicing helps retain juices. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days, or freeze for longer storage.
